Welcome to Surrounded in Beauty, my personal collection of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fanart. This version features the incredible character of Illyria from the fifth season of Angel. So take a look around and, hopefully, you'll like what you see. If you've any questions or comments, don't hesitate to e-mail me.

This is just an update to inform everyone that I now have a livejournal. So, go on over and comment while I try to figure out why I made it.

Just popping in to thank Ellissa so, so much for signing my guestbook. :-) It really made my day. I am such a fan of your work, and your comments meant a lot to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh, and your latest Draco/Hermione paper is so my new desktop.

Now, I'm off to update the index page for this site. *shudders at all the broken links*

And voila! That's French for 'the index page is now fixed.'

I also have a new affilate...Daydreaming! Jenni Lou's amazing and wonderful site is now my 'muse' under my family sites. :-D

Oh, and one more bit of news. The insanely simple layout at the domain is now a wallpaper in the couples section. I just can't not have a Willow/Oz paper on my site. It's, like, illegal. Or something.

So, I've finally gotten around to watching Firefly. Oh. My. God. I am so in love with that show now. Seriously, there is nothing about the series that I don't like. The characters, the plot, the music, the cinematography, the special effects, the sporadic actor from either Buffy or Angel. Everything is amazingly and beautifully done. And I've only seen three episodes so far. Hee!

But back to the site. I've redone a wallscroll that I made a while back. It's of the seventh season episode Selfless, which has to be one of my favourite episodes ever. Here's the original one that, for some reason, is absolutely drowned in not particularly pretty brushes. *shakes her head* I was in a phase. But now I'm much more into glowy, clean, simple art. So here's the new one. I've taken off all brushes and tossed on some Sarah McLachlan.

And just to prove that I do still like brushes, I've put up a new, very simple layout at the domain. While going through and picking out my favourite wallpapers, I ended up removing every single Willow/Oz paper. :-( So, I decided to let them have their very own layout. :-)

Ack, Josh! You're just too much. *rereads her latest guestbook entry* That is the sweetest thing ever. *sniffs a bit* Thank you so, so much for offering to host me. I may take you up on it if my new idea doesn't pan out. :-)

Okay, so there may be a bit of hopeful news on the horizon. Unbeknownst to me until very recently, my boyfriend is thinking of upgrading his domain package. So I worked my wily charm on him, and he's going to let me have some of his webspace for my art. *does the dance of joy*

I still don't know if I'm going to go back and add all my older stuff back to the site. I mean, it's nice to see my progress, but some of it is just too cringe-worthy share with everyone else. *winks* But what I can do is add more new art that I wouldn't have been able to before.

And with that in mind, there's a new Sarah wallpaper over in the cast section. I find it kind of funny (and I find it kind of sad..) that it took my decision to nearly close Surrounded for me to start updating it more often.

Anyway, the paper is sort of a remake of a wallpaper I did many, many moons ago. Probably the fourth thing that I ever did in PSP. Like I said, cringe-worthy. I still really like the idea, so I revamped it. Basically, I just wanted the idea of a few screencaps and her quote from "Homecoming" to depict how tragic her life has been. I'm not too sure why I've got an extreme close-up of her neck, though. Uh. She's a Vampire Slayer, and vampires like necks, and she's got a neck, so...yeah. Just go with it.

Okay, so I lied. I know I said there wouldn't be any updating for awhile, but there's a new wallpaper over in the couples section. *winks* It's actually just something that I came up with for the layout but discarded.

I honestly just can't get enough of Illyria. She rapidly became one of my favourite television characters ever, which says a lot because Fred was one of my favourite television characters as well. Wesley's interaction with Illyria was phenomenal and beautiful. I tried to capture what kind of effect Illyria seemed to have on him. Wanting to hate her but in total awe of her at the same time.

Oh, and before I forget...I'd like to give a shout out to Josh. My e-mail's been acting wonky, so this is just the easiest way. I just wanted to let you that your latest art is absolutely fantabulous. Well, your older art is absolutely fantabulous, too, but I've already told you that. *winks* But yeah, the Everwood prettiness at N-S.net is all kinds of gorgeous. And that new layout at Mediocre Sunshine is the coolest thing ever. I heart that name, too. So, hugs and keep up the fantasticness. Hee!

So, uh...yeah. It's been a while, huh? Well, this update brings good news and bad. I always prefer bad news first, so here we go. As an intelligent person might could surmise from the complete lack of updates, I have lost the time and energy to maintain my numerous sites. Surrounded, included. I was hoping I was just in a slump of sorts, but after a few months, it's unlikely. Hence, this uber simple layout. Furthermore, I can't just have my sites idly sit around because it'd just be a waste of money that I should be saving or spending on other things.

The good news (See? Told you there'd be some.) is that I haven't decided to completely close Surrounded. I'm going to opt for a much smaller package from my domain server. So while it'll be cheaper, I'll have a lot less space. Therefore, I've gone through and picked out my favourite wallpapers that I've done. Everything else, however, has been removed from the site. And until I can find a way to attain more webspace without it costing too much, this is the way it'll be.

From here on out, there will be very few updates. I might throw a new layout up once in a while, and a new wallpaper might pop up every so often...but that's about the it. Maybe one day, I'll be able to work on the site like I used to. Cross your fingers. Or, you know, don't.

I would like to say a few words to every single person who has ever signed my guestbook or e-mailed me with thoughts/questions or given me feedback on a posting board. Thank you so, so much. You all, at one time or another, have put a smile on my face and make having this site worthwhile. Much love and gratitude to you all.

Now, I'm off to close my cliques and update my fanlistings.
